When the work put into a baby shower seems effortless, that is usually a strong indication of how well it was planned. Organizing a baby shower requires significant planning and organizing. It starts with the guest list and doesn't end until after the party is over. One of the first tasks of the baby shower organizer is to choose the proper baby shower party supplies. Those start with the invitation cards. After all, the work put into the party will all go to waste if people aren't given proper notice to plan to attend. Other considerations for the baby shower include the food to serve and entertainment to provide.

When choosing the invitation cards, try to avoid generic invitation cards. Create invitations so the guests know exactly who the baby shower party is for when they open the invitation without even reading it. This means making sure the cards are customized. Customized cards that feature the mother-to-be's photograph and other images can be ordered from the Internet or at a local card shop. If the host can't find somewhere offering these services or it's not affordable, put a photograph of the mother-to-be on the back of each invitation.

Have fun when choosing baby shower foods. A little bit of humor is a great addition to the celebration. Maybe create a menu designed around “baby,” with all of the serving sizes being small. Not only will this carry out the theme, but it will also allow guests to enjoy a variety of foods without feeling full. The food does not have to be heavy and filling, instead consider foods such as what would be served at an afternoon tea. Keep it light so the guests can enjoy the food while socializing with the future mom and her other guests.

It's not a baby shower without games and contests. This is where the host can be creative when shopping for baby shower party supplies. Some ideas of games could include racing to drink a beverage through small baby bottles, baby bingo, guessing gifts the mom will receive, and contests to see how much the guests know about the future mom. All of these will need a variety of supplies to play.

Don't forget the prizes, though. After all, competition is the most fun when guests are awarded for success. The host has fun shopping for a variety of baby-themed prizes too. A lot of work goes into preparing for the party, but the ultimate award for the host is nobody knowing how much time and effort it took. Planning the shopping ahead of time will result in that success.
